TiFahi, granddaughter of Walking Bird grows with the promise of taking leadership from her grandmother when of age. Finding her place in her peoples society she learns early to listen and think out things heard and learned. Becoming a useful member of her people by going off with those who gather salt, a valued item by her and all people. Learning of a great power given by the Spirits, she learns it’s limitations. It becomes a power she uses to gather information which saves her people from becoming victims of warring people. Telling her grandmother of this power, she is given a task which sends her off to follow her grandmothers Guide Spirit. Doing so, she finds her grandmothers sister and birth people. A people who hate and distrust all, her people most because they stole the one who became Walking Bird from their people when she was but a child. As she learns how these people hate more than any other people, she brings this knowledge home and her grandmother finds out her kidnapping brought her into a loving people where she became what she could never have with her birth people. TiFahi is called by the Spirits to find and reunite a people lost by distance. In doing so, she finds love and must chose this man or giving up her leadership. Her man surprises her with a choice of his own.
