Description
The North American Indian – or, as they prefer to be called themselves: Native American – history has always been a study full of ambiguous points. Nowadays, when the outlived tribes still live on poor circumstances and try to keep step with our running world despairingly, their unique culture deserves more attention than used to. I created my book with the goal of explore and uncover maybe the most tragic and exciting period of Native American persecutions: in the age of the Civil War. In this synthesis-like work I have tried to demonstrate that the Civil War influenced the Indian Wars in the American West in several aspects. The analysis has been built by three units; The first one is a survey on the Indian history from the beginnings till the 1860s. The middle part contents deep connections between the Civil War and Indian politics. The last chapter presents useful instructions for educational purposes. I recommend this compilation for those who are interested in Native American / Civil War history and politics or simply eager to obtain some knowledge of them and for those who would like to get practical ideas to process this odd topic for school lesson teaching.
